i am 23 years old, worked alot of different jobs. recently i have been trying to find myself a career or a job thats more suited to my personality. right now i work in a very popular restaurant. my coworkers are a bunch of lazy losers and i feel like my efforts are really wasted in this place. my boyfriend’s uncle says he can hook me up with a job doing land scapeing in the spring. i really love being outside in any weather (helps my depression) and i love to work hard and i do a really excellent job at anything im working at. most people think im incredibly physically fit and capable. what i want to know from people who are already doing land scapeing, hpw dp you like your job? is it something you enjoy doing everyday? are you making a career of it? any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I am landscaping the east side of my house that is in zone 3/4.
Here is my challenge:
I want to put 7-9 shrubs along my house between the house and the brick path that connects the front and back doors. The depth of the bed ranges from 4 to 7.5 feet. I want a couple evergreen shrubs (I favor yews strongly) and I want to hide the uglies of that side of the house (utilities, foundation).

My ideas for shrubs so far are yews, miss kim lilac, ivory halo dogwood, dark horse weigelas, shrub roses, and a burning bush. I’ll fill in the front along the path with daylilies, sedum, and perhaps phlox.
Do you have better ideas, or can you point out a plant I’ve listed that you disagree with? The house is dark so I want the plants to work with it. I tried uploading 4 pictures here:

Hopefully that link works - let me know if it doesn’t.
Thanks for looking, and suggest away!!!
Thanks

I work until 2 am on Friday night, which means I usually dont sleep until 3 am and then I have to be at work again at 12pm noon Saturday morning. Our neighbors have landscapers to do their lawn but they come at 8:30 in the flipping morning and wake me up! Is there anything I can do? Thats not fair. Thats like disturbing the peace or something.

Thanks!
I forgot to mention, I work over 80 hours a week, so I need my sleep!
yes, they are a landscaping company with all that LOUD equipment lol… it really ruins my day
I agree, 830 is not THAT early for a weekday… but c’mon, on a Saturday 830 is really early.

I’m Having a mud problem?

Cori asked:

We’ve just moved into a new house and the backyard is pretty much a mud trap. We plan on getting a landscaper in there to figure something out, but is there anything we can do in the meantime? It almost hurts to clean my house and then have the dogs run in and spread mud everywhere.

We think there might be a leak somewhere because the mud just doesn’t dry. Is that possible? and what would we do about it?

Anyway, thanks!

We live in Ga and just moved into a new home. The backyard basically consist of Ga clay. We don’t really have the money to spend for a landscaper to come lay sod and so are thinking of planting seeds ourselves. Is there any grass seeds that will grow seeing as fall is just around the corner?

We’d like to spread it 3″ thick. Our front yard measurements are 74×16, 74×93, and 17×33 (the landscaper we hired measured in 3 parts)

Our backyard is 68×90. How do I figure out how many cubic yards of soil I need? Thanks so much!

I have a huge tree that looks like the photos of the canary island date palm. Mine gets huge clusters of yellow/orange berries. is this the canary island date palm? A landscaper told me that to buy that tree is about $6 grand. Is that true also?

Before using a landscaper, its probly a wise thing to research their performance. Do you know of any websites or ways to find out if they do good work and if people have had problems with them?

I would like to kill the wild blackberries and other bushes around my fence cause it takes over my lawn. Is there any other way than getting a landscaper to do the work and pay big money? I don’t want those things to come back either.

Thanks

My neighbor just had some landscaping done and it looks great. My question is how do the professional landscapers get that very defined line around the edge of the garden?
